Hagalil Region, USY

Religion/Education VP

Howdy Hagalil,

I am Jason Sherman and am giddy to be your next Religion/Education Vice President. I was born 17 years ago on a brisk spring day on April 8, 2000 in our Jewish homeland, Marlboro, New Jersey where I have lived ever since. I am currently a junior at Biotechnology High School, and have been enrolled in public school for my entire life. I have attended Marlboro Jewish Center for the past 17 years where I have received my religious education but I haven’t gotten my passion for Judaism until USY. But before I get to that, let me start at the beginning.

I joined Kadima in 6th grade because my brother was very active in USY at the time so I decided to try it out. At that time, I had no idea what I was getting into. But by 8th grade, I was bored with the whole camp thing so I had decided I wanted to go on USY On Wheels East 2014. This was where my true love for USY grew. I grew so passionate about Judaism and USY that I wanted to go on another summer program, USY On Wheels Bus B 2015. Since USY summer programs have changed my life, I knew I had to give back. Seeing as religion education is widely disrespected in the region, I had to change it. So, that’s what I plan to do this year: spice up religion education to be more fun and engaging. Can’t wait for the year ahead. If you have any questions you can always contact me 24/6.

Warmest Regards

Jason “Shermspice” Sherman
